About Berkhamsted Castle

The ruins of the castle are fascinating and you will find it to be great for both adults and children. It is really safe for the young ones to run freely and the older ones can climb to the top of the motte and learn about the castle and it’s orgins from the information panels on the different sections of the ruins and imagine what the Castle would have been like all those years before.

During the summer months the site of the castle is a wonderful place to be and the children can see the panels in the Visitor Room or have a guided tour appropriate for their age and learn about the castle’s history. The Visitor Room has panels telling of Berkhamsted Castle’s history. There is no admittance charge and a visit to the castle is totally FREE
